Misc. Wedding Shots
These photos aren't great...some were taken with my cell phone, but I wanted to post them so I could get them off my desktop. Lots of photos to organize! A more organized posting (or several) will come later...when I get a minute...you know...when school's out in a couple of weeks.

Going to miss them!

What's a mom to do? Yep, Mom guilt! Good thing there's Grandma, Aunt Kathi, and their other mother--Mary Beth--to help me out!

Happy Early Birthday!
Both kids are fond of reminding me that they are only following my lead when they suggest that we celebrate their birthdays for a month! In fact, the prince now refers to May as his birthday month. Because of a crazy schedule, we celebrated his birthday Sunday. Grandma, Aunt Kathi, and Uncle Rick joined us for cake and presents. Sixteen! Where's my baby?

Love you!

Grandpa's Birthday

While Grandma and Grandpa were here last week, we were able to celebrate Grandpa's birthday, and we were only a couple of days late. Grandpa loves chocolate chip cookies, so we had chocolate chip cookie sundaes. Yummo!
Grandpa has the prince to thank for the candle. When he was about 8 he just had to have that for his cake, and it's been making the rounds of many a birthday ever since then. :)

Final Track Meet

Grandma was in attendance on this beautiful spring day.
As I've said all along, track is a social sport for the prince.
After the meet he headed to Toys R Us with some teammates and then over to Buffalo Wild Wings--he's all about hanging out, less about worrying about scores or placing.
And it's all good--he had a great time this season!

Happy Mother's Day!
Real Mothers don't eat quiche;
They don't have time to make it.
Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils
Are probably in the sandbox.
Real Mothers often have sticky floors,
Filthy ovens and happy kids.
Real Mothers know that dried play dough
Doesn't come out of carpets.
Real Mothers don't want to know what
The vacuum just sucked up...
Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'
And get their answer when a little
Voice says, 'Because I love you best.'
Real Mothers know that a child's growth
Is not measured by height or years or grade...
It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother.....

The Interview

The prince had an interview at Chuck E. Cheese yesterday. He must be up for a very important position because he has to go back today for a second interview. What the heck??? Maybe you need a second interview if you are wearing the rat suit. Maybe they see him as "management material". Who knows, but he's going back in today. Aside from two track practices that he's had to miss for this POSSIBLE employment, he only has one polo shirt so I had to iron his one button down shirt for this second interview. Hope there isn't a 3rd interview. He'll have to wear his one suit!

Heaven
A friend told this story the other day of her young son. I told her if she didn't put it on her blog, I was going to put it on mine. She hasn't yet, so...
George was being interviewed at church for a church video and was asked, "How to you get to go to heaven?"
George thought for a moment and then said, "Well, first you have to read the Bible, (here he paused) and then you have to die."
I love that he's even got it in the right order.
Go George!
He was also asked who he'd take with him if he went, and he named his baby brother. Ah, so sweet. Then he added that he wouldn't take his older brother and sister because they are mean!
Love that kid.

A Sad Passing

“A SAD PASSING”
Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.
Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Born and bread in Minnesota , Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half- baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
I know that isn't what you were expecting me to post today, but admit it, you smiled. My favorite is the names of his kids! Happy Monday!

Happy May Day!
When I was a child we would make little baskets, fill them with treats, put them on the doorstep of neighbors, ring the door bell, and then run off. I'm sure people did that for us as well. Why don't we do that anymore? We "Boo" at Halloween, which is basically the same thing, but why don't we do May Day baskets? I also remember decorating a May Day pole at school a couple of times. How old am I??? We should bring those traditions back.
Today, in celebration of May Day, I slept in, am doing laundry, and will later attend book club. But I wouldn't mind if someone left some treats on my doorstep. I also wouldn't mind if it were sunny and warm. Right now we've got a rain/snow mix with an occasional blue sky peeking out. Weird.
Wondering where May Day came from? According to www.chiff.com "Historians generally agree that May Day celebrations probably originated in the spring fertility rites of ancient Rome, which occurred at about the same time of year marking celebrations honoring the goddess of spring, Flora." I also read that it was later part of a socialist movement to get an 8-hour work day. So now you know.
